Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to the latest reported update on Tanguy Ndombele, which suggests that he remains a key figure in Jose Mourinho’s long-term plans.
According to Football.london journalist Alasdair Gold (via Hotspur Related), the Frenchman is still a big part of the Portuguese manager’s long-term plans with Spurs, but he is keen to shore up Spurs’ defence before introducing the 23-year-old, which would perhaps allow him license to roam in midfield.
The former Lyon man, who joined Spurs in a club-record deal last summer, has been left on the bench for both of Spurs’ first two fixtures after the Premier League restart, which perhaps was what led to some reports in France suggesting that he was ready to quit the Lilywhites this summer.
Do you think Ndombele is still a big part of Mourinho's plans?
Yes
No
The French international’s first season in the Premier League has certainly not gone to plan, with him completing 90 minutes on just three occasions in the top flight so far this season (per WhoScored). Ndombele’s last appearance for Spurs came in the 1-1 draw against Burnley before the season’s suspension, in which he was substituted at half time, with his 57-year-old manager extremely critical of his display following the game, which certainly doesn’t bode well for the former Lyon man.

Other Spurs questioned why the Frenchman, if he truly is a key figure, wasn’t given some time on the pitch in the game against West Ham on Tuesday night.
A key figure that doesn’t even get on the pitch against a poor West Ham side
— Greg Mackett (@gregmackett) June 25, 2020
That’s valid but at 0-0 vs west ham that was the perfect time for him to come on
