Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to the latest transfer rumour linking their club with a move for Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez, according to Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo (via Hotspur Related).
Citing British sources, Mundo Deportivo alleges that the north London club are interested in the 28-year-old and are willing to pay €17 million (£15.5 million) for the winger, however, Los Blancos are holding out for €25 million (£22.9 million). The report suggests that Jose Mourinho is keen to sign the Spanish international, although Zinedine Zidane is a big fan of the player’s versatility.
So far this season, the winger has featured just 14 times in La Liga, contributing two goals and one assist, which has seen him average a disappointing 6.74/10 rating (per WhoScored). However, injury problems have seriously disrupted his season, with the report even suggesting that Zidane was hoping he could fill in for Daniel Carvajal in the remaining La Liga fixtures, but has been unable to rely on him due to his lack of fitness.
Considering the 28-year-old is currently valued at £14.4 million by Transfermarkt and has just one year left on his contract, you can understand why Spurs might be keen to pay closer to £15.5 million for the winger, rather than Madrid’s reported asking price of £22.9 million.
Would Vazquez be a good signing for Spurs?

Surely means the end of Lamela, Lucas or ending the Gedson loan. Lucas Vazquez is a defensive RW/RM with quality end product.

Other Spurs fans were less positive about the reported transfer news.

Lots of Spurs fans suggested that they feel that the club don’t need to sign another winger.
Don’t need him

utter rubbish.
Son, Dele, lamela, bergwijn, lo celso, sissoko, sessegnon, Moira, gedson can all play on the wing. Money is tight and we are gonna spend 15m on a position not needed.

Overall, it seems as if the majority of Spurs fans wouldn’t be too keen on a move for Vazquez this summer.
