Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to the appointment of Jonathan Turner to the North London club’s board.

Evening Standard journalist Jonathan Veal (via Talking THFC) confirmed that the co-founder of Qatalyst Partners has joined the board with immediate effect. Qatalyst Partners is an investment bank that specialises in mergers, takeovers and acquisitions. Turner will join the club as a non-executive director.

The North London club shared a statement on the appointment on their website, which reads:

“Jonathan has over 24 years investment banking experience. He is a co-founder and former Co-President of Qatalyst Partners, a technology-focused investment bank, where he was the lead advisor on major transactions in the consumer technology and software sectors. Prior to founding Qatalyst, Jonathan was Global Head of Credit Suisse’s Internet banking group. Jonathan is also a former advisor to the UK Government on Technology and Finance.

“Jonathan is originally from North London and was awarded a BA with First Class Honours in Philosophy, Politics & Economics at Oxford University in 1994. Mr. Turner holds a number of board positions, including current Chair of the Investment Committee of Magdalen College, Oxford. He spends his time between London and San Francisco and has been a Spurs fan for over 40 years.”

Reaction from Spurs fans to the appointment of Turner can be seen in the tweets below.

Lots of Spurs fans seem to think it is a sign that the club could be the subject of a takeover in the near future.

It seems that a lot of Spurs fans want to see Levy gone, as, despite Spurs’ financial success in the past decade, the North London club are still without a trophy since 2008, and perhaps they feel that new ownership would result in more success on the pitch.

Although a lot of Spurs fans seem to be getting excited about the potential sale of the club, Levy confirmed a few months ago that there were no plans for the club to be sold, so it would perhaps be a surprise to see a takeover of the North London club anytime soon.
