On a recent episode of the Last Word On Spurs podcast, Ricky Sacks, Lee McQueen, Jamie Brown and Chris Cowlin discussed the latest goings-on at Tottenham, including the latest on Eric Dier’s potential ban from the FA.

Sacks prompted a discussion on the former Sporting Lisbon midfielder, saying:

“We also know that Mourinho is expected to now discover the fate of Eric Dier, who has also been charged by the FA after entering the crowd after that FA Cup defeat to Norwich, as we’ve always tried to forget. A decision on Dier is expected to be made in the coming days.”

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? - Who did Spurs beat in the opening fixture?

As Sacks comments on, the England international has now been charged for his actions following the penalty shootout defeat against Norwich City back in March, when he climbed into the stands to confront a fan (per BBC). However, it is yet to be decided whether or not the 26-year-old will face a ban for his actions back in March, and whether or not he will be available for selection for this Friday’s game against Manchester United.

Do you think Dier will be available for the game against United?

No

Although, you would hope that if the FA intended to ban the Spurs man, they would have done so by now, to allow Mourinho enough time to plan his team for their re-opening Premier League fixture.

TIF Thoughts…

Mourinho is already going to be without Dele Alli for the game against Manchester United after it was announced that he would receive a one-match ban, so he will no doubt be hoping to have Dier available for the fixture against his old side. It has been previously reported that the 26-year-old is going to be more regularly used as a centre-back when the top-flight resumes, so it will be interesting to see if he can establish himself as a regular in Mourinho’s side, although a potential ban could certainly harm his chances of nailing down a first-team spot.
