On the latest episode of Spurs-focused podcast The Extra Inch, Chris Miller and Nathan Clark discussed the latest goings-on at the north London club and looked back on Spurs’ 1-1 draw with Manchester United last Friday.

One topic of conversation on the recent episode, which was titled: ‘Bergwijn’s Poise, Crowd Noise, Fully COYS‘, was the performance of Serge Aurier in the recent 1-1 draw with Manchester United. The Ivory Coast international earned a solid 6.67/10 rating for his display against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, as he also picked up an assist for Steven Bergwijn’s opening goal (per WhoScored).

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? - Who did Spurs beat in the opening fixture?

Miller prompted a discussion on the right-back, by asking Clark what he thought of the 27-year-old’s performance.

Clark replied jokingly, saying:

“He didn’t give up any penalties or any red cards. He didn’t get blown up for any foul throws. He was wasteful in attack a handful of times. For me, that’s a middle of the road Aurier performance.”

Miller then offered his own thoughts on his performance, saying:

“One thing I would say in his defence of him, though, is he was absolutely gassed after about 55 minutes, he had had it completely and he needed to come off.”

TIF Thoughts…

It is perhaps understandable why the former PSG man might have been looking tired in the latter stages of the game against United, as his heatmap shows that he was operating almost as a right-winger for much of the game, but was also tracking back a lot when forced to defend. It was also Spurs’ first game back in the Premier League following the enforced break, so perhaps the Ivorian’s fitness levels will not yet be at the same level as where they were before the suspension.

Do you think Aurier looked tired against United?

So far this season, the 27-year-old has impressed in his performances in the top flight, having contributed one goal and five assists in 26 appearances, which has seen him average a 7.16 rating (per WhoScored). Although Miller and Clark suggest that he was exhausted during the United game, he managed to last another 90 minutes against West Ham on Tuesday night and earned a 7.33 rating for his performance (per WhoScored).
