Tottenham Hotspur-focused Twitter account @Daily_Hotspur recently posted a tweet sharing the alleged news that Spurs “are in talks” to bring 23-year-old Flamengo midfielder Gerson to North London.

This tweet cites ‘Goal Brasil’ as the original source of this news and this comes after Goal recently published an article claiming that Spurs “would be willing to pay €18m (£16.14m)” to sign the midfielder in the summer transfer window.

This tweet from @Daily_Hotspur which shares this news has caught the attention of plenty of Tottenham supporters who have been responding to this post to share their thoughts on this alleged transfer news.

A section of Spurs fans have been responding negatively to this tweet, with some Tottenham supporters sharing some concern over the club’s finances in response to this post.

How well do you remember Heung-Min Son's time with Spurs? - The Lilywhites signed Son from which Bundesliga side?

Would this be a good signing for Spurs?

However, Some Spurs fans have reacted more positively to this news, with one Tottenham supporter stating that Gerson is a “good player”.

As per Transfermarkt, who currently value the midfielder at £9.9m, Gerson moved to Flamengo in July 2019 from Serie A side AS Roma. He has since made 41 appearances for Flamengo in all competitions, providing four assists and scoring four goals whilst predominantly playing in central midfield. He has helped his team to win the Brazilian Serie A, the Recopa Sudamericana, and the Copa Libertadores since joining them last summer.

With all of this in mind, it appears as though Gerson has played a significant role for a successful Flamengo side since joining the club and it may be understandable why he has allegedly been attracting interest from Spurs.
