Journalist Alasdair Gold has recently talked about Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in signing West Bromwich Albion defender Nathan Ferguson.

Gold recently released a video on his YouTube channel where he spoke on many topics surrounding Spurs. He also gave some insight into some transfer ambitions of the club and what they might look to do in the summer window. During this, Gold revealed that the club are keeping tabs on the situation of West Brom’s young defender Ferguson.

How well do you remember Heung-Min Son's time with Spurs? - The Lilywhites signed Son from which Bundesliga side?

Ferguson, currently 19, is set to leave the Baggies at the end of this month and is not renewing his deal at The Hawthorns (via BBC Sport).

When talking about this, Gold said: “As I’ve always said, Spurs are going to be looking at those deals for players in the last year of their contracts – the [Pierre-Emile] Hojbjergs, they’ll be keeping an eye on the Ferguson at West Brom situation, as well. [Eberechi] Eze is in his last year as well, possibly, and then obviously we’ve got Willian.

Do you think Spurs will sign Ferguson?

Yes, I'm very sure

“I’m not entirely sure whether Ryan Fraser is a Spurs player or not, I’ve consistently said that – we’ll see on that one. Spurs [are] not really going down the transfers route just yet. I’m sure they’ll be making enquiries in the background and things like that, but I think they’re just waiting for the season to end and they’re going to kick into gear. And it sounds like there will be transfers, which is good news.”

Gold seems pretty certain that Spurs are monitoring Ferguson’s situation and they could be attracted by the fact that he will soon be a free agent.

TIF Thoughts…

The defender has played quite a bit of first-team football in the Championship for West Brom in the 2019/20 season. He has made 21 appearances and played at both right-back and left-back for the club. He had begun the campaign with an assist on his debut against Nottingham Forest (via Transfermarkt).

Ferguson has picked up a decent WhoScored rating of 6.85/10 this season, which is the ninth-best average at the club (via WhoScored). That isn’t bad at all for a player who is only 19.

Juan Foyth has been linked with a move to Leeds United in recent weeks and Ferguson could be a replacement for the Argentine. The fact that he’ll be a free agent would make this an even better move for Spurs.
