Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to an update on Michel Vorm, after it was reported that he has agreed to stay at the North London club for the remaining nine Premier League games.

According to Sky Sports (via The Spurs Web), the Dutch ‘keeper will extend his contract until the Premier League’s conclusion, with his current contract set to expire later this month. Spurs originally released the former Swansea man last summer, but he was re-signed as a free agent following the elbow injury suffered by first-choice keeper Hugo Lloris in October (per BBC).

How well do you remember Heung-Min Son's time with Spurs? - The Lilywhites signed Son from which Bundesliga side?

Spurs first signed the 36-year-old from Swansea in 2014 and in his time with the Lilywhites, he has gone on to make 48 appearances, conceding 48 goals and keeping 17 clean sheets (per Transfermarkt). So far this season, the shot-stopper has made just one first-team appearance for the Lilywhites, with Paulo Gazzaniga preferred between the sticks during Lloris’ long-term injury.

That single appearance came in the FA Cup against Norwich City, where the 36-year-old’s error allowed the Canaries to equalise and unfortunately for Spurs fans, he was unable to match the heroics of his compatriot Tim Krul in the penalty shoot-out, as Daniel Farke’s side progressed to the quarter-finals (per BBC).

Do you think Vorm will make any more appearances this season?

Reaction from Spurs fans to the news on Vorm can be seen in the tweets below.

Some fans suggested that the news is unsurprising, considering the money the Dutchman will receive for presumably sitting on the bench for the remaining fixtures.

Other Spurs fans were perhaps slightly more sarcastic in their replies to the news.

Although some fans are sarcastic in their replies, others seem disappointed that he is set to stay for the remaining games, the fact he has made just one appearance so far this season suggests that he is only being kept as an emergency back-up, so probably won’t see any game time in the remaining fixtures.
