Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to the latest reported update on Southampton midfielder and reported transfer target Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
According to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna (via Daily Hotspur), the north London club have begun negotiations with the Danish international’s agent, Pini Zahavi, ahead of a possible move to the Lilywhites. Spurs have been regularly linked with a move for the 24-year-old in recent months and after the former Bayern Munich man was stripped of the Southampton captaincy by Ralph Hasenhuttl in recent weeks, it is perhaps no surprise to hear that talks between his agent and Spurs have begun.
So far this season, the midfielder has earned a solid 6.86/10 average rating across his 30 appearances in the Premier League, despite having contributed zero goals and just one assist (per WhoScored). However, he has impressed in both of his appearances back in the top flight since its resumption, earning a 7.93 rating for his performance in the 3-0 win against Norwich and a solid 7.04 rating against Arsenal, despite the 2-0 defeat at St. Mary’s.
