Many Tottenham Hotspur fans have been responding to a tweet from @thespursweb relaying Jose Mourinho’s comments regarding Tanguy Ndombele in the manager’s press conference ahead of their clash with Manchester United on Friday night.
Mourinho said (as per Football.london): “When he was back to the training ground, he was committed, he worked. I can see he was much more integrated in the group, in the spirit of the group. I think he understands more and more what we want from him. So I’m happy with his last couple of weeks where he showed us some of the great qualities that we know that he has. So yes, ready for tomorrow.”
Ndombele joined the Lilywhites from Lyon in July 2019 for a reported fee of £54m (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk). He’s made 19 appearances in the Premier League this season, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
According to WhoScored.com, his average performance rating in the top flight this season currently stands at 6.76/10, which you may argue is somewhat underwhelming given the transfer fee paid in order to bring him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Here is how a sample of the club’s fans responded to Mourinho’s comments on Twitter.
Insanely gifted footballer. Hopefully his physical condition will enable him to do his stuff on a consistent basis.

Are you confident Ndombele has put his fitness troubles behind him?
Yes
No
It’s clear that these fans have high hopes for Ndombele at Spurs, but there are clearly concerns in regards to his ‘physical condition’. Fans continued to respond:
Can’t wait to see him prove the hatters aka sky sports wrong

Great news, although it’s a shame 90% of these clips aren’t from his time at Spurs I still have faith though!

Mourinho confirmed that Ndombele is fit to play a part in Spurs’ first game back, and these fans will no doubt be hoping he can help the Lilywhites to all three points as they look to close the gap on those in the UEFA Champions League qualification spots.
