Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly working on a new contract for Eric Dier.

This comes after football journalist Fabrizio Romano shared a post on his official Twitter page replying to a Spurs fan who asked him if there is any new information on the London club they need to know about.

How well do you remember Heung-Min Son's time with Spurs? - The Lilywhites signed Son from which Bundesliga side?

Romano replied to the question revealing that “at the moment” a new contract for Dier is the latest news coming from the London club.

The Englishman, who is currently valued at £18 million according to Transfermarkt, signed to the club back in 2014 from Sporting Lisbon (per Transfermarkt).

Since then, the 26-year-old has gone on to make 235 appearances for the London club in which he has managed to score 11 goals and provide 11 assists despite him playing as a defensive midfielder and occasional makeshift defender.

So far this season, Dier has been a rather sporadic figure for Jose Mourinho’s side having made just 14 out of a possible 29 Premier League appearances (per Transfermarkt)

These performances in the Premier League from Dier has resulted in the Englishman being awarded a season rating of 6.63/10, making him the 18th highest-rated in Spurs’ squad for this campaign (per WhoScored).

TIF Thoughts…

The fact that Spurs are reportedly working on offering Dier a new deal at the club with his current contract set to expire next year just goes to show that they see him as a valuable member of their squad, despite him not having the best season this year.

With the current Premier League season set to resume once again later this month, this could provide Dier with an excellent opportunity to get a run of consistent form under his belt before the season ends.
