On the latest episode of The View from The Lane podcast for The Athletic, Jack Pitt-Brooke, Charlie Eccleshare and James Maw have been discussing the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur, as well as looking back on the 2-0 win against West Ham.
The trio discuss a range of topics on the recent episode, which is titled ‘Mourinho v Merson & West Ham reaction‘, including the performance of Giovani Lo Celso during Tuesday night’s win. The Argentinian impressed against the Hammers, earning a 7.62/10 rating for his display as the Lilywhites sealed an important three points against David Moyes’ side.
All three of the Athletic journalists were complimentary of his midfield display, with Pitt-Brooke first asking Eccleshare what he thought of the 24-year-old, to which he replied:
“He was so good, and I do think seeing him up close is even better, the way he moves his body, the way he constantly changes the point of attack.
“I also think, from watching closely and watching some of the off-the-ball stuff, he’s nasty, he has an edge to him, you think of him as being this kind of dainty, creative player but he leaves his foot in, and he was winding up some of the West Ham players. I just think he’s got it all. He has that edge to him, he can dribble, he’s so complete and just getting better, and when he plays, I feel quite confident about Tottenham.
“I think it was only the fourth time he and Kane have started together this season and I think that might help Kane, as well. He hasn’t got many assists, but he just makes Tottenham look so much more dangerous going forward and provides a lot of balance. I find him really, really exciting.”

If Lo Celso can match the performances of Dembele, who was extremely impressive during his time with the North London club – regularly averaging above a 7.0 rating for his performances in the Premier League (per WhoScored), then he would certainly prove to be a great signing for the Lilywhites.
As Eccleshare suggests, the Argentinian is yet to pick up an assist in the Premier League, but judging by his impressive display against the Hammers on Tuesday night, it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise to see him contribute in the remaining top-flight fixtures.
