The report states that the games will be played at either stadiums or training grounds, with the Premier League providing a list of conditions to ensure hygiene and social distancing rules are adhered to, which include: clubs being forbidden from travelling for further than 90 minutes, all players being required to travel in their own cars, possibly in their kits, no official referees being allowed to attend, with members of coaching staff taking charge, and full risk assessments of the stadium/training ground being completed before games.

In reaction to the reports, which were relayed by The Bladesman on Twitter, fans of the club have flocked to have their say on the matter, with many suggesting some of the clubs that their side could potentially play.

Sheffield United have so far been enjoying a magnificent season in the Premier League so far this term, winning 11, drawing 10 and losing just seven of their 28 fixtures played in the league, with the club sitting in seventh place in the table.

As such, it would appear that the news that clubs are now allowed to play friendly fixtures ahead of the resumption of the Premier League is good for United – so that their club can try and regain some of the fine form that they had previously been in before the unexpected break from the Premier League season.

With just 10 fixtures of the Premier League season left to play for United this season, and the club being just two points behind fifth-placed Manchester United with a game in hand on the Red Devils, it is not unreasonable to suggest that the club could be in with a shot at qualifying for European football next season.

As such, anything that could help them refind their previous form before the resumption of the Premier League season is undeniably good news for both the club and their fans.
