Supporters of Newcastle United have been flocking to a Twitter post regarding the club’s supposed takeover that was shared by journalist Sean Ingle.

The tweet emerged after @The_Looney_Toon posed the question to the Guardian reporter over whether there was any update from the Premier League on the proposed bid.

Ingle then responded in a somewhat puzzling fashion which seemed to allude towards something positive.

He said: ‘Having spent the last few weeks saying Staveley and others were wrong to say the announcement was imminent, I am now the other way…’

Lots of Newcastle supporters then flocked to this tweet to speculate over what the journalist could have meant by his Twitter post.

Nice easy one to start off with, which club did Newcastle United sign Shearer from in 1996?

While the fact that Ingle is now ‘the other way’ compared to his original view of the takeover not being imminent hardly paints the entire picture, some felt that it was good news.

While there has been nothing by way of confirmation, one of the latest reports on the Saudi Arabia-led takeover of the Toon was that MP Angus MacNeil urged the government to block the takeover (per BBC).

However, the St. James’ Park faithful continued speculating following the post from the Guardian reporter.

Does Sam Ingle's tweet allude to something positive regarding the takeover?

No, it's just clickbait

As can be seen in these responses from Newcastle supporters, many believed that the tweet from Ingle could, in fact, be a sign of some positive news.
