Mark Douglas, speaking on the latest episode of the Everything is Black and White podcast, has revealed that he still thinks the proposed takeover of Newcastle United will go through.

Nice easy one to start off with, which club did Newcastle United sign Shearer from in 1996?

Douglas spoke about other things, including the Toon’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup, but he spent a long time on the Newcastle takeover.

This is what he had to say about his belief that the takeover will go through:

“I believe, still, that eventually this will get done, it will happen, if it doesn’t happen at the first bite of the cherry, remember they’ve got leave to appeal as well.

“So, that would imply longer, and longer, and longer waiting for this to happen.

“So, we just need some kind of decision now, really; I think we need to know what’s going on.”

It appears that Douglas still thinks the deal will go through even if the Premier League initially rejects it, but he also clearly just wants the PL to make a decision.

Do you think the takeover will still happen?

Yes, I still believe

Yes, I still believe

No, I think it will be rejected

No, I think it will be rejected

TIF Thoughts…

If the Premier League does reject Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed takeover of Newcastle United, then the consortium has the right to appeal – despite claims from those opposed to the deal that they couldn’t do that.

So, even though this process has been going on since April, it could go on for a lot longer if the PL rejects the deal and an appeal is subsequently submitted.

Hopefully, the Premier League listens to Steve Bruce, who has asked for clarity on the Toon’s takeover.

Bruce is right; this whole situation is not helping Newcastle in any way, so a decision either way from the PL would probably be greatly appreciated.
