A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a post from Stewart Penman, who made the bold claim that the proposed takeover of the Toon would be completed on the first of June.
Penman, a Newcastle fan who lives in the Middle East, stated that a senior adviser in the Saudi government had told him that the Toon’s proposed takeover by Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium would be confirmed on Monday.
This drew the attention of these Toon fans who were not convinced by this claim at all.
One Newcastle supporter believes that Penman is just trying to seek attention.
Think I might start saying the take over will be done tommorow, cause if I get it right I’d be a hero. But if I get it wrong and keep doing it, when it eventually happens I can have a proper ‘I told you so’ moment.

Another attention seeker

This information from Penman does have support – as a report from Neil Custis on the 24th of May claimed that the takeover had been approved by the Premier League and would be officially announced on the first of June.
Do you believe this claim?
No
Yes
However, since that report was released, Sean Ingle produced a piece in The Guardian that stated that the World Trade Organisation had found solid links between the Saudi government and BeoutQ – a piracy station.
A further article from Craig Hope claimed that this would delay the league’s decision on the Toon’s takeover.
However, despite this, some Newcastle fans want to believe Penman and are hoping for an announcement.
It’s my birthday tomorrow PLEASE!!!

There was a report from the Evening Chronicle last week that claimed the buying side were hoping that the Premier League would reach a decision soon after Project Restart was put into place.
Despite this, though, there appear to many Toon fans who feel that this is a bold claim to make.
Really put your neck on the line for this?

I hope you’re right mate but you’d better get the tin hat ready just in case because if it doesn’t some fans can be down right nasty, either way have a good day fella ?

This date of the first of June was initially reported by The Sun, and it seems that Penman believes that the deal will be announced, but as of yet, nothing has happened.
It remains to be seen if this long-running takeover saga will reach its conclusion soon or if it will drag on for a bit longer.
