Lee Ryder, speaking on the Everything is Black & White podcast with Andrew Musgrove, has revealed his thoughts on the proposed takeover of Newcastle United.

Nice easy one to start off with, which club did Newcastle United sign Shearer from in 1996?

Ryder was asked what he thinks about the takeover when discussing the Toon’s match against Sheffield United on Sunday.

Here is what Ryder had to say about the takeover:

“We’re now two months down the line, and we still haven’t had any confirmation [of the takeover].

“So, I think that sent out a big signal to the fans at the time, me personally, I’ve always been a bit more cautious about things.

“That hasn’t gone down too well with people on social media, but at the end of the day, until the deal is done and the ink is dry, then you can’t say it’s done until it’s done.”

It seems as if Ryder is not that confident on this takeover, and he is right that until there is an official announcement, then the deal is not done.

TIF Thoughts…

The deal for Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium to buy Newcastle from Mike Ashley has been with the Premier League for a while after a deposit was paid to the Magpies owner.

Since then, the deal has been with the Premier League going through the required checks, but concerns over piracy have caused some serious issues.

There have been suggestions that for the PL to allow this takeover through, the Saudis would have to make some concessions.

However, Sean Ingle has now claimed that the Premier League’s decision is days, rather than ‘weeks and weeks’ away – so maybe there will be a resolution to this soon.

It seems that Ryder would like to hear something official about this takeover before he becomes less cautious.
