A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a Twitter post from The Chronicle that includes a link to their live blog from Monday.
From here, you can find quotes from Richard Keys regarding the Toon’s proposed takeover.
Keys, speaking on Keys & Gray The Podcast, claimed that Newcastle fans have misunderstood his comments on the takeover. He claimed that when he said he wished Newcastle weren’t the club going to be taken over, it wasn’t because he doesn’t like Newcastle, but because he doesn’t want Saudi Arabian money to be invested in any club.
Do you believe Keys?
No, he is talking nonsense
Yes, I am happy to give him the benefit of the doubt
This has drawn a reaction from these Newcastle fans, who have slammed Keys’ explanation.

Keys stated back in April that he wished Newcastle were not going to be taken over by Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium, and he has now come out and tried to defend these comments.
Still, many Newcastle fans are not convinced and continued to slate Keys.
Keys statement makes no sense. Especially the last sentence.

The former Sky Sports man has spoken out against this takeover for some time now and also was one of the people to mention the potential second bidder, Henry Mauriss.
It should also be remembered that Keys last year told then-manager Rafael Benitez to use his own money to buy players – so to many Newcastle fans, he has always appeared to be defending Mike Ashley.
So, it is no surprise to see so many Toon fans slam him for this defence of his previous statement.
The Toon’s takeover is continuing to rumble on, and both Steve Bruce and the Toon’s squad have asked for clarity on the situation, but the deal is still going through the Premier League’s checks.
It will be interesting to see if Keys gets his wish or if Newcastle fans will get the new ownership they crave.
