Nice easy one to start off with, which club did Newcastle United sign Shearer from in 1996?

An official government account (@SAIPKSA) announced there would be a crackdown on all piracy in Saudi Arabia and announced that 231 websites would be shut down as the country toughens its stance.

This comes after an official World Trade Organisation report found the piracy station BeoutQ was to have originated in Saudi Arabia and to have been operated from people within the country; however, it did not directly accuse anyone in the Saudi government of direct involvement.

The Saudi government also sent a letter to major sports bodies around the world accepting it has a responsibility to tackle piracy as the country looks to get their proposed takeover of Newcastle United through.

This latest move from Saudi Arabia has delighted these Toon fans, who feel that the takeover is edging closer following this development.

The deal for Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed takeover of the Toon has been agreed with Mike Ashley since they paid him a deposit in April.

However, since then, the deal has been going through the Premier League’s required checks, and the issue of piracy has caused some serious problems.

This led to some suggesting that Saudi Arabia would have to make concessions, and it seems that with this effort to stop piracy and the letter sent to sports bodies, the country is making those concessions.

These appear to be positive steps forward for the Toon’s takeover, but this one Newcastle fan feels that the takeover has been initially rejected.

So, is a decision from the PL edging closer?

Hopefully that is the case, so that this saga can be brought to an end.
