Nice easy one to start off with, which club did Newcastle United sign Shearer from in 1996?

Staveley, who is leading a Saudi consortium’s efforts to buy Newcastle from Mike Ashley, is suing Barclays for £1.6bn for misleading her and her company PCP in 2008.

This post drew the attention of a lot of Toon fans who were happy to see the woman who they believe will be ending Ashley’s reign.

The deal for Staveley’s Saudi-backed takeover was agreed with Ashley in April, and a deposit was paid to the current Toon owner.

Do you think Staveley's takeover will be approved soon?

However, since then, the deal has been with the Premier League going through the required checks, but it is unclear when these might finish after Richard Masters confirmed that there was no timescale for this process.

These images of Staveley appeared to get some Toon fans excited as they thought that she was in Newcastle.

However, she did not give up and has secured backing from the Reuben brothers and PIF – with PIF set to take an 80% stake in Newcastle in this takeover.

There are, though, issues that appear to be holding up the deal, and the main one is piracy of sport in Saudi Arabia.

The main issue with this appears to be a direct link between BeoutQ and the Saudi government, and this process has become increasingly complicated.

It is said that Staveley wanted the takeover sorted before her court case started, but that has not happened, and if Masters’ comments are anything to go by, then it is unclear when the Premier League will reach a decision.
