Newcastle United news Twitter account @NUFC360 caught the attention of plenty of Toon supporters recently after they posted a tweet sharing a claim regarding Saudi Arabia and the ongoing Toon takeover attempt that was allegedly made by ‘Middle East expert’ Ahmed Gatnash in a report by The Telegraph.

This tweet quotes Gatnash as saying that he doesn’t think Newcastle United fans “will get what they hope for” from their would-be owners behind this ongoing takeover attempt. @NUFC360 went on to share Gatnash’s claim that “the Saudis are cutting salaries by 30%, including doctors” at present, declaring that “they don’t have the money to go around at the moment.” Lastly, this tweet quotes the ‘Middle East expert’ as saying that the Saudis are “struggling”.

After Gatnash’s words were shared on Twitter via @NUFC360, plenty of Toon supporters replied to this post to share their thoughts on these claims.

Some Newcastle United fans didn’t seem to be too bothered by this claim, revealing that they just want the club’s current owner, the unpopular Mike Ashley, to leave St. James’ Park.

Nice easy one to start off with, which club did Newcastle United sign Shearer from in 1996?

Meanwhile, some Newcastle supporters replied to this post to contest Gatnash’s claims, with some describing this alleged news as “rubbish”.

The Daily Mail reported that the Toon’s prospective new Saudi owners would be the wealthiest in the Premier League if their ongoing takeover attempt gets approved. With this in mind, it mightn’t be too surprising to see that some Newcastle supporters have responded to @NUFC360’s tweet to contest Gatnash’s claim that the Saudis are “struggling” at the moment.

However, considering that he is described as being a ‘Middle East expert’ Gatnash could be more knowledgable than most on Saudi finances.
