Fans of Newcastle United have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which Newcastle striker Andy Carroll shares a photo from his Instagram page.

In his post on Twitter, the 31-year-old shared a link to a post of his from his Instagram page, which featured a photo of Carroll celebrating a goal from his first spell in the North East club, before adding the comment: “There is only one happiness in life, to love and be loved.”

In reaction to his post, fans of the club flocked to have their say on the matter, with many questioning whether or not Carroll is ready for the return of Premier League football, while others have simply sent messages of adoration to the forward.

Since rejoining Newcastle from West Ham United on a free transfer last summer, Carroll has managed 13 Premier League appearances for the club, providing four assists and averaged a WhoScored match rating of 6.75.

However, Carroll featured 96 times for the club during his first spell in the North East, scoring 33 goals and providing 21 assists, before making a £36.90million move to Liverpool in 2011.

It is likely that this previous spell with the club is why many of their fans are obviously fond of the striker, with many more sending him their well-wishes.

After struggling with numerous injuries earlier in the season, it is clear that many of the Newcastle fans are keen to see whether or not Carroll has managed to remain fit throughout the unexpected break from the football season, and whether he will be ready for the Premier League’s return.
