Many Newcastle United fans have been discussing a recent tweet from Craig Hope of the Daily Mail in which he provided an update on the proposed takeover of the club.
Hope claims: ‘For first time this weekend sources who have always urged caution re timing of NUFC takeover say they now believe PL announcement is close & expect it will be approved after increased involvement of UK govt, who are keen to preserve & strengthen Saudi ties.’

Sources close to the deal told the Daily Mail it is ‘not by accident’ that two separate Saudi authorities have pledged to crack down on piracy over the past weekend. Here is how a sample of the St. James’ Park faithful have responded to the update.

Are you expecting an announcement regarding the takeover this week?
Yes
No
These fans are clearly desperate to see the takeover deal concluded and with that, Mike Ashley leave the club. The 55-year-old took full control of the club back in June 2007 and it is safe to say he has become an unpopular figure amongst those who follow the club. Supporters continued to respond to Craig Hope’s post and some were not as optimistic regarding an imminent announcement.
Somebody will write a letter by tomorrow

On the field, Steve Bruce’s side produced an impressive victory over Sheffield United at the weekend. If a positive announcement were to come from the Premier League this week, in our view, it would cap off a good week for the Toon.
