A report in the Daily Express claims that Crystal Palace are one of a number of clubs who would be keen on taking Olivier Giroud in the summer.

Can you score 20/20 on this Premier League quiz? Starting off easy, who is the top scorer in the Premier League this season?

The piece states that the Eagles, West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and Lyon are among those keeping an eye on the 33-year-old’s situation.

The Frenchman, who has 97 caps for his country, only signed a new deal at Stamford Bridge last month, but it is believed that he could be sold, with the arrival of Hakim Ziyech already confirmed and a move for Timo Werner edging closer to completion.

The piece believes that Chelsea could ask for around £7m for Giroud, who has scored 80 goals in 229 Premier League appearances.

The Express also believes that the Blues are looking to sell Michy Batshuayi, but he is unlikely to be returning to Selhurst Park because the Eagles cannot afford his wages.

TIF Thoughts…

Palace are mentioned as one of several clubs looking at Giroud, but for only £7m, they are unlikely to get a player with 80 Premier League goals.

The Eagles currently have Christian Benteke and Jordan Ayew as options up front, and although Ayew has done quite well – scoring eight goals in the Premier League – Benteke has scored just one league goal this season.

A move for Giroud, therefore, could make sense as he could add goals to a side that have managed just 26 in the Premier League – the second-lowest total in the division this season.

However, the competition for the former Arsenal man could be fierce, so it will be interesting to see if Palace make a move for the Frenchman or if they decide to look elsewhere.
