Quinton Fortune, who currently works as the assistant manager of Manchester United’s U23s, appeared on a recent edition of the official Manchester United podcast where he spent some time discussing 18-year-old Red Devils attacker Mason Greenwood.

Greenwood is a product of the Red Devils’ youth academy and the 18-year-old attacker has been highly rated throughout his time at the club. The teenager won the Red Devils’ ‘Jimmy Murphy Youth Team Player of the Year’ award for his performances during the 2018/19 campaign.

Can you score 20/20 on this Premier League quiz? Starting off easy, who is the top scorer in the Premier League this season?

That season saw Greenwood score 26 goals and provide eight assists in his 26 appearances in all competitions for United’s youth teams, while he also made four appearances for the Red Devils’ senior squad that term.

The England U21 international has continued his development this season, scoring 12 goals and providing four assists in 37 appearances for Manchester United’s senior squad.

Considering how he has developed throughout his time at the club after rising through the youth ranks, it may not come as a surprise that the current assistant manager of the Red Devils’ U23s, Fortune, was full of praise for Greenwood during his recent appearance on the official Manchester United podcast

When asked for his thoughts on Greenwood and his potential, Fortune said: “There are not many players in world football that are able to go both ways like Mason does, [he’s] equally left and right foot, it’s ridiculous.”

The South African coach went on to say: “I’ve seen him take a free-kick with his right foot and left foot and I’m like – ‘What’s wrong with you? Just pick one!’”

The United youth coach then shared a story providing some insight into Greenwood’s dedication to improving and learning more about his craft. Fortune said: “This is how calculated Mason is, this is why he’s a little bit different: I’m walking through the building at the ATC (AON Training Complex) and there’s a computer room where you can go to analyse the team and Mason was in there. He was looking at games and ways he can get better. He’s the only player I’ve seen [doing that], so he’s on it, and just natural. He’s a finisher, he’s an unbelievable finisher, he is the real deal.”
