According to recent reports, RB Leipzig will hold talks with Manchester City regarding the sale of City left-back, Angeliño, who is currently on loan at the German club.

The reports by German publication Sport Bild (via Sport Witness) claim that Leipzig are incredibly impressed with the City left-back and would like to make his loan a permanent move this summer.

However, the report goes on to state that Leipzig can no longer afford the previous amount they agreed regarding a future fee for Angeliño – which was set at between €22-23m (£19.9-20.8m).

Sport Witness‘ report states, as per Bild, that RB have ‘€30m’ set aside for both Angeliño and Patrik Schick, who is also on loan at the German side from AS Roma.

TIF Thoughts…

It is easy to see why Leipzig are interested in making Angeliño’s move permanent, as since he joined the club in January, the Spaniard has highly impressed, both domestically and in European competition.

Over his 11 Bundesliga appearances, the 23-year-old has scored one goal and provided one assist, averaging a WhoScored match rating of 7.09.

Meanwhile, over his two appearances in the Champions League, the defender has registered one assist, as well as an average match rating of 7.45.

However, the sale of Angeliño, who is valued at £15.75 million (as per Transfermarkt), would not likely cause Pep Guardiola much stress, as the City manager was more than happy to loan the player out in January.

As such, it could be argued that despite the fact RB are going back on the original price agreed for the left-back, it should not be too difficult to rearrange a fee with City.
