Fans of Manchester City have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which Sam Lee relays comments made by Uli Hoeness on Leroy Sane.

Speaking to BR Radio (via One Football), the Bayern president discussed the City winger, stating:

“I believe we’re on the brink of a new and great generation. With Joshua Kimmich, Niklas Sule and hopefully David Alaba, Thiago and also Leroy Sane, we have a young and viable team. If everything goes well, Bayern is just starting a new era.”

Man City fan? We bet you can't get 100% on this Yaya Toure quiz. We'll start you off with an easy one... Who did Yaya Toure sign for City from back in 2010?

Sane has been a long-time target of Bayern Munich, with Sky Sports Germany stating that the transfer looks extremely likely this summer, although an agreement between the two clubs regarding a fee for the 24-year-old is far from being agreed.

The Athletic journalist Lee then picked up on the comments made by Hoeness, quote-tweeting a post by iMiaSanMia, which relayed the Bayern president’s comments on Twitter, before adding the comment: “Wow.”

In reaction to his post, fans of Manchester City have flocked to have their say on the matter, with many suggesting that the actions of Bayern Munich throughout the Sane transfer saga have been extremely arrogant, while others have stated their belief that City should lodge a complaint regarding Hoeness’ comments with UEFA.

Although Sane has not featured for Manchester City’s first team since picking up an injury in their Community Shield victory over Liverpool back in August, his form from the 2018/19 season demonstrates why Bayern are so interested in the player.

That season, Sane scored 10 goals and provided 10 assists over his 31 Premier League appearances, averaging a WhoScored match rating of 7.26.

In addition to this, the winger also impressed in Europe, scoring four goals and providing four assists over eight Champions League fixtures, averaging a match rating of 7.52.

As such, it is clear to see why many City fans appear keen for their club to keep hold of Sane. However, with Sky Sports Germany reporting that Sane will not be extending his contract with the club, should City want to make a significant amount of money on the player, they may be forced to sell this summer, as the winger’s contract expires next year.

However, despite this, some City fans have asked Lee whether or not he feels the player will definitely leave this summer, while others have claimed that if Sane is to leave the club, they would rather him go to anyone but Bayern.

While it would seem like many of these City fans are outraged with the comments of Uli Hoeness and the actions of Bayern Munich in their pursuit of Sane, it would seem from recent reports that unfortunately for City fans, the winger will be joining the German giants sooner or later.
