Liverpool fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest news update surrounding the Merseyside club’s recent training session.
This comes after Reds journalist David Maddock shared a post on his official Twitter page revealing that Jurgen Klopp’s side recently held a training match at Anfield where two different teams made up of Liverpool players played against each other.
Maddock also revealed that Georginio Wijnaldum “sat out” the match whereas Xherdan Shaqiri was “not there” to take part.
He then added in his tweet the starting XI’s that saw all the remaining Liverpool players take each other on in the training match.
Maddock then ended his tweet asking his followers their thoughts on this latest news.
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Liverpool fans who were quick to share their reactions to this latest news, with many Reds focusing on the fact that Shaqiri was not involved in the match.
Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans responding to the post:
Interesting XIs from first #LFC 'training game' at Anfield, Gini sat out, Shaq not there
home: Alisson; Hoever, Matip, VVD, Robbo; Jones, Hendo, Keita; Elliott, Firmino, Mane
away: Adrian; Trent, Lovren, Gomez, Larouci; Ox, Fabinho, Milner; Salah, Minamino, Origi
Thoughts??

So basically Klopp already decided the squad for next season. No Lallana, no Shaq.

The winger signed for the Merseyside club back in 2018 from Championship side Stoke City for a fee of £13.23 million according to Transfermarkt.
Ominous signs for Shaq. Think his time is coming to an end

Will Shaqiri be a Liverpool player next season?
Yes
No
Since then, the 28-year-old has made just 40 appearances for the Reds in which he has scored seven goals and provided five assists (per Transfermarkt).
Unfortunately for Shaqiri, injuries have disrupted his playing time at Anfield, resulting in the winger having only made six Premier League appearances so far this season.
Home team is much stronger also think that’s the last of Shaq at Liverpool

Big Shaq mahn, so frustrating. Can’t see us turning down good money for him.

It’s good to hear that Liverpool are stepping up their training sessions as they prepare for the remainder of their Premier League campaign when the season resumes later this month.
Perhaps Shaqiri’s absence from this latest training match was down to injury and nothing to do with a potential exit from the Merseyside club.
The fact that so many Liverpool fans have been showing their concern over Shaqiri’s absence just proves how much they like the winger.
