Bayern Munich are yet to receive an official enquiry from Liverpool or any other club regarding their midfielder Thiago Alcantara, according to Kicker.

Earlier in the week, it was reported that Jurgen Klopp was an admirer of the player but it seems they are yet to make a move for the 29-year-old although there is talk of interest from Anfield at Bayern’s headquarters.

It’s also claimed that the Bundesliga champions are prepared to demand a fee of between €60m (£54.07m) and €80m (£72.09m) if he is unwilling to accept a new contract offer. Thiago’s current deal has until June 2021 to run meaning next season will be his last in Bavaria unless an agreement is reached between now and then.

TIF Thoughts…

Thiago has made 24 appearances in the German top flight this season and contributed three goals. According to WhoScored.com, he is the club’s fourth-most consistent performer with an average performance rating of 7.47/10, only behind Serge Gnabry, Alphonso Davies and Robert Lewandowski. Therefore, you can understand why the club looks set to demand that kind of money for his services despite Transfermarkt.co.uk only valuing him at £43.3m.

Do you expect Liverpool to launch a bid for Thiago this summer?

The Spaniard is renowned for his passing and dribbling ability and in our opinion, given his quality, he would be a good addition to any squad. However, having seen Liverpool withdraw from the race to sign Timo Werner recently and Jurgen Klopp suggesting it would be wrong to spend such a significant amount after having to have conversations with his group regarding salary waivers (Sky Germany via Team Talk), we’re not sure they would be willing to meet Bayern’s asking price.
