Liverpool apparently have a “big advantage” in regards to any potential transfer move for Paris Saint-Germain attacker Kylian Mbappe.

This is according to former French international striker Willy Sagnol who recently spoke about Mbappe in an interview with Sport Bild (via Sport Witness).

2018/19 season quiz: How many points did Jurgen Klopp's side accumulate in the Premier League?

This advantage Sagnol is referring to is the fact that Liverpool have Jurgen Klopp as their manager.

In the interview, Sagnol claimed that every player in the world would like to work with Klopp and that Mbappe would have to adjust the defensive side of his game under the German if he were to move to Anfield.

He said: “This club has a big advantage: With Klopp you have a coach with whom every player in the world would like to work.

“Mbappe would have to adjust under him: he demands a lot of defensive work from his strikers, which Mbappe is not yet good at. But he can learn that, especially from a guy like Klopp. No question: Mbappe could become a king with Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.”

The Frenchman first signed to Paris Saint-Germain on a loan deal back in 2017 from fellow French side AS Monaco. After his first season on loan, Mbappe then signed to PSG on a permanent basis for a fee of £130.5 million according to Transfermarkt.

In 120 total appearances for PSG, Mbappe has managed to score 90 goals and provide 49 assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

This season has seen the 21-year-old, who is currently valued at £162 million according to Transfermarkt, score 30 goals in 33 appearances across all competitions (per Transfermarkt).

Mbappe’s 21 appearances in the recently abandoned Ligue 1 season resulted in the Frenchman being awarded a season rating of 8.14/10, making him the second-highest rated player in the PSG squad (per WhoScored).

TIF Thoughts…

Sagnol certainly has a lot of praise for Klopp for thinking that the German can be the main reason why Mbappe would potentially swap Paris for Merseyside in the future.

Given Mbappe’s incredible goalscoring record since signing for PSG and Liverpool’s attacking strengths perhaps Klopp could well get the best out of Mbappe if he were to make the move to Anfield in the future.
