Liverpool attacker Liam Millar hopes to secure a loan move this summer as he looks to further his development. In an interview with TSN, the Canadian revealed that he is aiming to join a Championship club.

The 20-year-old said: “I’m aiming for the English Championship hopefully, I think it’s probably the best second league in the world.

“It’s also one of the toughest leagues, too, because you have a game every three days. It’s back-to-back and I think it’s the perfect thing that can help me get to the Premier League and be ready for it.”

2018/19 season quiz: How many points did Jurgen Klopp's side accumulate in the Premier League?

The Reds signed Millar from Fulham back in July 2016 and he has spent the second half of the 2018/19 season as well as the first half of the 2019/20 campaign with the Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock.

He made a total of 36 appearances for the club, scoring two goals and providing his teammates with three assists. The Toronto-born forward has already made his full international debut for Canada, back in March 2018 (via Transfermarkt.co.uk).

TIF Thoughts…

We can assume from the player’s comments he is keen to play regularly and believes the second-tier of English football will provide him with a good education as he looks to eventually establish himself as a Premier League player.

Millar plays as a centre-forward, a second-striker or on the left-wing and given the standards at Liverpool currently, a loan move which would afford him regular playing time feels like a sensible move for all parties involved.

He managed to get on the Anfield pitch during the club’s FA Cup fourth-round replay against Shrewsbury earlier this season and became the first-ever Canadian to represent the Reds.
