Liverpool striker Joe Hardy has signed a new contract with the club.
According to the club’s official website, Hardy scored an impressive seven goals in just two months prior to the Academy season coming to a premature end as a result of the global pandemic. The forward made his first-team debut during the club’s FA Cup victory versus Shrewsbury Town at Anfield back in February, coming off the bench for the last eight minutes.
Hardy began his career at Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Manchester City, before moving to London to join Brentford in March 2017 (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk).
TIF Thoughts…
For the Anfield club to offer the player a new contract, we can assume they’ve been impressed by what they’ve seen of the striker so far and see him as one for the future. The Reds currently possess a highly-effective front three in Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, who have set the benchmark as evidenced by their respective outputs.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are closing in on their first-ever Premier League title, requiring just two more victories before they can be confirmed as champions. If Liverpool are able to wrap up the title with plenty of fixtures to spare, it will be interesting to see whether the likes of Hardy and some of the club’s other promising youngsters are given the opportunity to prove their worth on the Premier League stage.
