Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers provided an update on the fitness of James Maddison during his pre-match press conference ahead of Wednesday’s Premier League clash with Everton.

As per the BBC, Maddison was absent from the Foxes’ 1-0 FA Cup loss to Chelsea this past Sunday, with the England international missing the fixture after picking up a knock.

After the weekend’s FA Cup exit, Rodgers was quoted as saying that he believes Maddison will be fit for next weekend’s Premier League game against Crystal Palace if he isn’t fit for Wednesday’s game against Everton – and in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Foxes’ upcoming midweek fixture, Rodgers provided another update on the 23-year-old playmaker.

When asked about Maddison’s injury, Rodgers said: “He’s still a doubt. We’ll see how he is tomorrow. He’s made good progress.”

TIF Thoughts…

It may be fair to say that Maddison has played a fairly significant role for Rodgers’ side this term. The 23-year-old has played the fourth-highest number of Premier League minutes of any Leicester City player this season and he has also earned the second-highest average overall rating of any Foxes player in England’s top flight this term, according to WhoScored.

With that in mind, Maddison, who is currently valued at £43.2m according to Transfermarkt, may prove to be a big loss for the Foxes as long as he remains on the sidelines and Leicester fans will likely hope to see the attacking midfielder back on the pitch sooner rather than later with seven Premier League games set to be played between 1st-26th July.
