Everton have again been linked with an interest in making a transfer swoop for Olympique Lyonnais’ Dutch attacker Memphis Depay.

According to CalcioMercato, the Dutchman will not be renewing his current contract with his Ligue 1 club which is set to expire in just over a year (per Transfermarkt).

As stated in the report, Lyon have ‘taken note of the player’s will’ but will not lower their valuation of him, which is currently €30million (£26.9million).

We'll start easy for this Everton kits quiz, which shirt sponsor did the Toffees announce that their partnership with would be being brought to a premature end earlier this season?

Carlo Ancelotti’s side is not the only club touted in the report as it is believed that alongside Everton, Serie A giants AC Milan are also ‘on the player‘.

A report by CalcioMercato at the beginning of last week also linked the two clubs with an interest in the player.

With a year left on his contract, Depay currently has a market value of £39.6million (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts…

Considering his market value alone, it would seem that €30million (£26.9million) to sign the 26-year-old Dutchman would be great value.

Furthermore, the attacker has been the best-performing player for Lyon in Ligue 1 this season with a stellar average rating of 7.59/10 (per WhoScored). He’s also produced 14 goals in 18 games in all competitions, with five of these goals coming in the Champions League, which puts him joint-fourth overall.

Depay’s rating for his French club even betters that of Everton star man Richarlison, who has been the Toffees’ best-performing player in the Premier League with a 7.32/10 (per WhoScored).

Should the Toffees target the signing of Memphis Depay in the summer?

Yes, he's a class player

No, we don't need him

After a further delve into the duo’s offensive statistics, too, it would seem that the former Manchester United forward is better than the Toffees’ 23-year-old.

This season, Depay has taken 3.7 shots, made 1.9 key passes and performed 2.0 dribbles per league match on average, whereas Richarlison has taken 2.7 shots per game, made 1.2 key passes and performed 1.8 dribbles per league outing.

So, it would seem that if the club can bring Depay to Merseyside for €30million (£26.9million) after Richarlison cost around £50million (per BBC), it would be impressive business.
