The Liverpool Echo’s head of sport David Prentice has been discussing Morgan Schneiderlin’s impending departure from Everton for OGC Nice.

As initially reported by L’Equipe earlier this month, cited by Sport Witness, the Ligue 1 club are keen on the Frenchman and the player also wants the move.

One of the latest reports on the transfer, too, has stated that the player is ‘moving closer’ to his exit from Goodison Park (per Sky Sports).

So, in the latest episode of the Liverpool Echo’s Royal Blue: The Everton FC Podcast, Prentice discussed the former Manchester United midfielder’s impending exit.

To start this quiz on Richarlison with an easy one, how much did the Toffees pay to secure the Brazilian's services including potential future fees?

He said: “He [Schneiderlin] was decent for half a season. Let’s not get carried away. I think the big problem with Morgan Schneiderlin has been consistency.

“He has, on occasions, produced very good performances, which is why he got to move to a club like Manchester United, which is why he got a move to Everton. We just haven’t seen it anywhere near often or consistently enough to warrant any degree of confidence in what we might see from him.

“So, I think it’s best for all parties concerned. I don’t want to be too critical or make my comments to be too cheap about his time at Everton. I think he’ll just be a shrug of your shoulders, like: ‘Yeah, he was okay, we saw some decent moments from him, some not so decent.’

“You want a lot more for a man who’s on the salary that he’s on at Everton. So, I think it suits all parties, to be honest, if he moves on; if we can get a transfer fee for him – great.

“If not, we’re saving a significant chunk of wages which hopefully we can use elsewhere. Then he will presumably get some more regular first-team football in his native country.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what the journalist had to say on Schneiderlin’s impending departure from the club, Prentice believes that it will be a move that is best for all parties.

Is it best for all parties if Morgan Schneiderlin leaves Everton this summer?

No, we should keep him

No, we should keep him

Judging from the 30-year-old’s average rating of 6.42/10 in the Premier League this season, which has made him the Toffees’ eighth-worst performer (per WhoScored), the Frenchman does not appear to be good enough for Everton anymore.
