Everton youngster Jarrad Branthwaite could be set to benefit from the injury to Yerry Mina, with it having been suggested that he could be promoted to the first team.

According to Football Insider, the 17-year-old has been training with the first-team, impressing Carlo Ancelotti with his performances and he could be set for a run in the side, following the injury to Mina. It was announced last week that the Colombian international would miss the Premier League restart later this month due to injury, so perhaps Everton’s 17-year-old could be deemed ready to make his first-team debut.

We'll start easy for this Everton kits quiz, which shirt sponsor did the Toffees announce that their partnership with would be being brought to a premature end earlier this season?

The Toffees signed the teenager from League Two side Carlisle United in January after he made 14 first-team appearances for the North West side. The report from Football Insider suggests that:

“The manager is ready to promote him to the first-team squad when the matches resume later this month as back-up to Mason Holgate and Michael Keane.

“The duo are the only senior fit centre-backs in the Everton squad after they decided to make do without replacing 2018/19 loanee Kurt Zouma last summer.”

TIF Thoughts…

With it having been confirmed that Premier League clubs will now be allowed to make five substitutions in the remaining top-flight fixtures, if Branthwaite was promoted to the first-team bench as cover for Holgate and Keane, it would perhaps be a surprise not to see him making his debut for the Merseyside club.

The 17-year-old has clearly been impressing Ancelotti with his performances in training in recent weeks and the young centre-back certainly seems to have a bright future with the Toffees. It will be interesting to see if he does make an appearance in any of the remaining top-flight fixtures.
