Supporters of Everton have been reacting to a report which has emerged on the Toffees’ on-loan goalkeeper Jonas Lossl.
According to the Liverpool Echo, the Danish stopper will return to Goodison Park to challenge Jordan Pickford for the Toffees’ starting goalkeeper spot once his loan with Huddersfield Town ends.
Lossl has been with the Terriers since the January transfer deadline day (per BBC), having signed for the Championship club on loan for the remainder of the season.
Since moving back to the John Smith’s Stadium, the 31-year-old ‘keeper has made seven league appearances in which he has earned a 6.58/10 average rating (per WhoScored).
With the rating leaving Lossl as the 15th-best performer for Huddersfield, it could still be argued that the Dane has performed better in the Championship than Pickford has done in the Premier League.
Everton’s English stopper has picked up a weak 6.35/10 in the top flight which has left him as the Toffees’ sixth-worst performer (per WhoScored).
So, after the report was relayed to Everton fans on social media (via @EvertonNewsFeed), supporters aired their feelings on Lossl potentially challenging for a first-team spot.

He needs to step up cos Pickford needs a serious challenger this season to stop him being complacent

The Danish goalkeeper signed for Everton on a free transfer from Huddersfield last summer (per BBC), however, he did not make an appearance for the club before being loaned out (per Transfermarkt).
Despite never having performed for the Goodison Park club before, fans continued airing their mixed reactions to the report.
He wasn’t able to do so this season! What makes them think he can challenge next season?

He should have been given a chance especially in cup games instead of pickford. We have 4 goalkeepers. One who’s 36 and other 2 don’t get a chance

While with the Terriers in the Premier League last season, Lossl kept only five clean sheets and conceded 54 goals in 31 outings (per Transfermarkt).
Compared with Pickford’s 14 clean sheets and 46 goals conceded in 38 league outings last season (per Transfermarkt), fans may be right to be sceptical about replacing the Englishman with the Dane.
I reckon I could return to Everton and challenge Pickford for the number 1 position to be fair!!!

The guy never had a chance under Silva but he is a good goalkeeper. Better competence for Pickford than Stek and seeing the actual level of Pickford who knows if this man could win the number 1 spot.

Who would you rather have as the Toffees' starting goalkeeper next season?LosslPickford |
While most fans discussed Lossl’s abilities, one supporter felt that the report was indicative of something else.
This means limited spending on players

As can be seen in these responses from Everton fans, there is not a clear consensus on Lossl challenging Pickford for the starting goalkeeper spot.
This perhaps comes as little surprise due to Lossl being somewhat of an unknown quantity to Toffees fans because he is yet to play for the club.
