Supporters of Everton have been flocking to one of the Toffees’ posts to social media which shared a link to an article on Leighton Baines.
On Sunday, the Merseyside club relayed an article in which the English defender shared his favourite things corresponding to subjects relating to the letters in his first and last name (per Everton).
In one of these answers, he discussed Goodison Park and the full-back explained that it is his ‘favourite stadium in the world’ and that it is also his ‘favourite place to play football’.
When the post was shared to Twitter, many fans of the Toffees took it as an opportunity to air their desire to see the Englishman offered a contract extension.
Baines’ current deal with Carlo Ancelotti’s outfit is due to expire at the end of this month (per Transfermarkt).
So, if the 35-year-old is not offered an extension at Goodison Park, Baines’ 13-year stay in Merseyside will come to an end.
During that time, Baines made 417 appearances for Everton, in which he has bagged 39 goals, 67 assists (per Transfermarkt) and the adoration of Everton fans – judging by these responses.
