In a recent interview with BT Sport, Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has claimed that he will be giving younger players a chance to shine over Palace’s remaining fixtures of the Premier League season.

With Premier League football returning on Wednesday, following a lengthy and unexpected break due to a viral outbreak, the remaining fixtures of the Premier League season are set to be played over the next six weeks.

However, the relatively short period in which clubs will have to play their fixtures, in addition to players not having a great deal of time to prepare for the matches, has raised concerns about injuries and squad depth.

On this subject, Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson spoke to BT Sport about how he will be dealing with the remaining fixtures of the season, stating:

“I think this period coming up, the nine games in very quick succession, it’s a good opportunity to see what there is behind the first-team, players we haven’t maybe dared to risk in the quest to achieve our goal, we might put some of those players in there. That could be really interesting.”

With the likes of Wilfried Zaha, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Nathaniel Clyne and Victor Moses all being academy graduates of Crystal Palace over relatively recent years, the South London club certainly have a good track record of producing players capable of playing at the highest level of English football.

As such, it will be interesting to see if any of the club’s current crop of youngsters are able to make an impression on the league over Palace’s nine remaining fixtures of their campaign.
