According to recent reports, Crystal Palace – as well as Manchester United and Arsenal – are interested in a summer move for Gent striker Jonathan David.

Reports in The Guardian state that although Palace are keen on the striker, he would rather a move to the Bundesliga, with Borussia Monchengladbach being reported to be extremely interested in the forward.

The Express has previously reported that both Manchester United and Arsenal have also taken an interest in the 20-year-old in the past, meaning it looks likely that there could be somewhat of a bidding war for the £20.25 million-rated forward this summer.

TIF Thoughts…

It is unsurprising to see the level of interest in David, as, since joining Gent from Ottawa ISC back in January 2018, the forward has gone on to score 37 goals and provide 15 assists in 83 games.

The majority of his goal contributions have come this season, with the Canada international scoring 18 goals and providing eight assists in his 27 appearances in the Jupiler Pro League, as well as a further three goals in the Europa League, and two more goals and assists in Europa League qualifying – totalling 23 goals and 10 assists in 40 appearances (per Transfermarkt).

In addition to this, despite being just 20-years-old, the forward has already proved he can perform on the international stage, scoring a remarkable 11 goals in 12 appearances for his national side.

As such, should Palace manage to sign the forward, it would seem that they would be gaining a striker who certainly knows how to find the net, and with his age, one who will likely only improve with time.
