According to recent reports, Sassuolo left-back Alessandro Tripaldelli has stated that he will not be renewing his contract with the Neroverdi, giving both Crystal Palace and Southampton a boost to their hopes of signing the player.

Back in November, Tuttomercatoweb stated that both Crystal Palace and Southampton scouts were spotted watching the 21-year-old – who is currently valued at £405k – in action for Sassuolo.

Despite this rather modest valuation of the player, FirenzeViola claims that Sassuolo will not listen to any offers below €15m (£13.6m) for the left-back.

However, according to recent reports, also by Tuttomercatoweb, the defender has now stated that he has no interest in renewing his contract – which expires in 2022 – with the club, leading to suggestions that the Italy U21 international could well be on the move sooner rather than later.

TIF Thoughts…

Since joining Sassuolo from Juventus’ youth setup for a fee of £1.35m back in 2018, Tripaldelli has only made three first-team appearances for the Neroverdi.

Last season, the 21-year-old was sent on two separate loan spells, the first being at PEC Zwolle, where he made two first-team appearances, and the second being at Crotone, where he made three appearances.

As such, having played such little first-team football, it is difficult to judge whether or not Tripaldelli would be a good fit for Palace.

However, with Roy Hodgson having just one senior left-back – Patrick van Aanholt – in his squad, a potential move for Tripaldelli could be to provide back up for the Dutchman, thus giving the 21-year-old time to acclimatise to Premier League football, and also time to develop his skills.
