A report in The Athletic claims that West Bromwich Albion’s Nathan Ferguson is expected to start next season as a Crystal Palace player, with his contract set to expire.

Ferguson is currently recovering from knee surgery, but he has told the Baggies that he intends to leave The Hawthorns this summer, and The Athletic believes he will end up at Selhurst Park.

The 19-year-old nearly joined the Eagles in January, but concerns over his knee saw the move collapse, and has missed seven league matches since the decision was made to undergo knee surgery in early February.

Ferguson has been in good form for West Brom this season, recording an average rating of 6.85/10 for his displays in the league, highlighting his exciting talents.

He has even managed to chip in with one goal and one assist from his 21 appearances for Slaven Bilic’s side.

TIF Thoughts…

If this report is true, then it looks like Ferguson will be at Selhurst Park next season to compete for a starting spot in Roy Hodgson’s team.

A deal of a potential £11m was agreed for Ferguson in January, but although concerns over his knee ended that move, it looks like Palace were not put off, as it is alleged Ferguson will start next season as an Eagles player one way or another – despite previous interest in the youngster from the likes of Juventus and Atletico Madrid.

Considering the Eagles were prepared to pay up to £11m for him and he is valued at £3.6m, getting him on a free transfer could be considered quite the steal by Palace.
