Crystal Palace are interested in signing the Brondby midfielder Anis Ben Slimane, according to Danish outlet B.T..

The report claims that the Eagles, along with the Serie A giants AC Milan, are interested in taking the 19-year-old away from the Danish Superliga club. Slimane joined the club from Akademisk BK in July 2019 on a free transfer and since his arrival, he has made 9 appearances for the first-team.

He’s scored one goal and provided one assist so far whilst operating in a centre-midfield role (as per Transfermarkt). Slimane’s contract with Brondby still has approximately three years to run but it has been reported a number of high-profile clubs have been tracking his progress including Arsenal and Manchester United (via Sport Witness) as well as the aforementioned clubs.

According to Transfermarkt, the player is valued at £315k, although it was reported back in March that Brondby would be looking for a fee of approximately €5m (£4.5m) to help them cope with the financial impact caused by the global pandemic.

TIF Thoughts…

Given how little football Slimane has played for Brondby’s first-team, it is difficult to determine whether or not he is ready to play regular football in the Premier League.

However, judging by the stature of the clubs said to be keeping tabs on his progress, it’s fair to assume he has shown signs he could be a huge talent.

Roy Hodgson’s current midfield options include Luka Milivojevic, Cheikhou Kouyate, James McArthur and James McCarthy (via Transfermarkt.co.uk). If the Eagles are to move for Slimane, we believe it would very much be one for the future but they will have to fight off competition from some of Europe’s biggest clubs first.
