Aston Villa journalist Dan Bardell has made a claim on Jack Grealish’s future at Villa Park.

This comes after Bardell recently made an appearance on Villa-themed YouTube channel The Villa View to share his post-match thoughts on Villa’s 2-1 defeat to Chelsea.

Who scored Villa's goal in their 1-0 win against Stoke City on the opening day of the 2014/15 Premier League season?

After being asked about how Grealish performed in the match, Bardell went on to discuss the Englishman’s future as a Villa player.

He said: “I think if ever you wanted a reason why Jack Grealish won’t be here [at Villa] next season, watch that 90 minutes back. Because he is watching players play for England who he is better than. I’m not saying for one minute that [Mason] Mount, [James] Maddison, aren’t good players, because they are. But Grealish is better than them, but he’s playing right-back in that first half. I’m not sure what is going on for him to even be on the right-hand side, I think it isolates him. He’s not going to get in the game, because he can’t drift in from the right, at least from the left he can drift in.

“But he’s a Villa fan, he loves Villa, I’m sure he doesn’t want to leave, but he isn’t going to achieve what he can achieve in his career staying at Villa because we are light years away from where Jack Grealish needs to be. Watch that 90 minutes back and tell me if you think I’m wrong, but that is an advert as to why he won’t be here next season.”

Are you confident Jack Grealish will be a Villa player next season?

Grealish has been Villa’s top performer so far this season, with his performances in his 28 Premier League appearances earning him a season rating of 7.29/10 (per WhoScored).

However, the 24-year-old put in a disappointing performance in Villa’s latest defeat, resulting in him being awarded a match rating of 6.6/10 (per WhoScored).

TIF Thoughts…

With Grealish being so impressive for Villa this season, the club will undoubtedly be looking to keep hold of him for the future.

However, they will also be hoping that he can improve his performances for the rest of this season so he can help his club avoid relegation this year.
