A group of Aston Villa supporters have been reacting to the reports Coventry City ‘could well swoop’ to sign Callum O’Hare if he fails to agree on an extension with the Villans. According to the Coventry Telegraph, the midfielder has been ‘adored by the City fans throughout his loan spell and would be available for no more than a compensation fee’.
O’Hare has played 29 times in League One this season, scoring three goals and providing his teammates with three assists. An attacking midfielder, the 22-year-old has represented England at Under-20 level.
In terms of his performances throughout the season, O’Hare has averaged a rating of 6.66/10 in League One according to WhoScored.com, which on the surface seems somewhat underwhelming. However, the fact he has played such a significant role – starting 60% of the time – for a team who sit top of the division reflects well on the player.
Here is what some of the Villa Park faithful have had to say on the matter after @TheVillaVision relayed the report via Twitter.
Let’s hope not.
He looks a long term replacement for Jack and he’ll be a better bet than anything Susa serves up.

I dont see it, he’s already 22, never played Premiership football, only 4 games in the Championship but has done well in League 1.
Jack was running games at 19 in the Premier, O’Hare is nowhere near his standard, if he was there would be clubs from the Premier trying to sign him.— Gary Glasgow (@GPDecorating) June 2, 2020
We need 2 hold on to him

Whilst some are convinced the club should try and hold onto the player, others have reservations about whether or not he has the quality to play for Villa in the Premier League or even in the Championship. Fans continued to share their mixed opinions on social media.
If he was as good as everyone is saying, why are Coventry (league 1) the only team in for me… I’m sorry but all I see is people moaning about the youth players we let go over the years when in reality only 1 was good enough for the premiership

surely you’d keep him if there is a chance of going back down to the Championship. He’d graft not like some we currently have

The majority appear to prefer that Dean Smith’s side keep hold of a player one supporter described as a ‘long term replacement’ for Jack Grealish. However, in our view, given he’s only ever made nine appearances for the first-team at Villa Park, it is difficult to know whether or not he is capable of establishing himself as a regular for the Birmingham-based club.
