Sheffield Wednesday striker Steven Fletcher is fit, according to his teammate Adam Reach. The 33-year-old was not spotted in the photographs or footage doing the rounds following the club’s in-house matches last week (as per Yorkshire Live).

However, Reach confirmed that the Scotsman should be available as the Owls step up their preparations for the resumption of the Championship season. He said: “Steven is fit, I’m not sure if on that day he was just not pictured or whether he was resting or having some physio work, I’m not sure. As far as I know, he’s fit.”

To kick off this quiz on 2019/20 Championship goalkeepers, can you name which goalkeeper has kept the highest number of clean sheets in the Championship this season?

The left-midfielder added: “The gaffer has tough decisions to make all over the place. We have a 25-plus squad who are all ready to fight, players are playing for new contracts, they’re playing for extended contracts, they’re playing to get their face in the window for other clubs, maybe.

“Steven will hopefully be in that selection. He’s looked sharp since he’s come back.

“Hopefully he plays in the two games and hopefully he plays past that as well. But that remains to be seen, I’m sure discussions are going on now.”

TIF Thoughts…

Fletcher has contributed 13 goals in his 26 Championship appearances this season, the most recent of which came in the 1-0 victory over Charlton Athletic at Hillsborough (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk).

According to WhoScored.com, his average performance rating in the league currently stands at an impressive 7.25/10 despite the Owls disappointingly having struggled to maintain a challenge for the play-off positions.

Garry Monk’s side find themselves in 15th place in the division and according to Yorkshire Live, the club have eight players with contracts approaching their expiration date. Regulations state that the Owls have until June 23rd to agree new terms with those who are out of contract at the end of the month or release them – and Fletcher’s situation is one we are sure the supporters will be keeping a close eye on.
