Journalist Alan Nixon has suggested that Sheffield Wednesday duo Steven Fletcher and Morgan Fox may end up staying at the club after all. When asked whether or not he thought the pair would remain at Hillsborough on Twitter, he responded: ‘Depends on the terms. Maybe less than what they were [on] before. But still better than they get elsewhere.’

Both Fletcher and Fox are out of contract this summer, however, the pair could be persuaded to stay with the Owls, with Nixon’s comments potentially suggesting rival clubs will be feeling the financial impact of the global pandemic and therefore may be unable to offer the kind of contracts they might have been planning to previously.

Fox has also played 26 times in the league, scoring twice and providing one assist from left-back. Formerly of Charlton Athletic, the 26-year-old has averaged a performance rating of 6.81/10 (via WhoScored.com).

TIF Thoughts…

According to a recent report, Burnley, Norwich City and West Bromwich Albion are among the clubs interested in the duo and the Owls were ‘resigned’ to losing them. Although Nixon doesn’t definitively say that the pair will stay, his comments will have given some hope to those who wish to see them remain beyond the summer.
