Phil Hay, speaking on the latest episode of The Phil Hay Show, has been talking about Jean-Kevin Augustin and if we are likely to see him play again for Leeds this season.

Nice easy one to start. Who is this current Leeds man?

During the podcast, The Athletic writer spent a bit of time on the Frenchman and also on Bielsa’s reaction to a question about Augustin.

Discussing the fact that Augustin’s loan deal, which expires at the end of June, has not yet been extended, Hay said: “I asked Bielsa: ‘Is there any realistic possibility that he could get involved in any of these eight games?’, and I think the fact that Bielsa didn’t really want to go down that path tells you there probably isn’t.”

Hay moved on to issue of the permanent transfer that has been arranged for Augustin.

“I’ve been in touch with people over in Germany, and as far as [Red Bull] Leipzig are concerned, this is going to be a permanent transfer if and when Leeds go up.

“They’re in no doubt that Leeds have committed to doing this permanently.”

It seems as if although Augustin is injured and could miss the rest of the season, Leeds will have to sign the 23-year-old anyway if they are promoted.

If Leeds go up would you want Augustin?

No, barely seen anything of him

Yes, would be good to see what he can do

TIF Thoughts…

Bielsa not directly answering any questions on Augustin’s fitness could mean that the Frenchman is done for the season after managing just 48 minutes of first-team action for the Whites since he signed from Leipzig in January.

However, it appears that if the Whites go up, they will have to buy the Frenchman despite him barely featuring for Leeds.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Augustin if the Whites are promoted to the Premier League, with his future looking increasingly uncertain.
