A report that was recently published by The Sun has revealed that Tahnoon Nimer “has found a buyer” for Charlton Athletic and has agreed on a deal that will see him sell the Addicks to a consortium that has been “put together” by club lawyer Chris Farnell.

Numerous names had been linked with a takeover of the club in recent weeks, however, the identity of the Addicks’ next owner has now been confirmed after this report shared that Nimer has agreed to sell to Farnell’s consortium. As per The Sun, Manchester-based businessman Paul Elliott is involved with this takeover.

We will look at Marcelo Bielsa to kick off this quiz on the Championship's managers, which of these national teams has the Leeds United boss managed?

Since Nimer and his East Street Investments (ESI) group completed a takeover of Charlton Athletic back in January, there has been plenty of drama surrounding the club. Nimer and former Addicks chairman Matt Southall became embroiled in a public row, which Charlton manager Lee Bowyer shared some regret over, as per TalkSPORT. ESI’s Charlton takeover was also placed under investigation by the EFL back in April after Nimer failed to “satisfy EFL requests for proof and source of funding”.

Furthermore, Charlton Athletic director Marian Mihail confirmed that the wages of the club’s staff for the month of April and the month of May were paid without a cash injection from Nimer.

Is this positive news for the future of Charlton Athletic?

In addition to sharing the identity of the club’s new owners, this report from The Sun also states that “sources close to Farnell’s camp say they will be ‘sensible’ owners who build slowly”. If Farnell follows through with this and does indeed act sensibly, then the Addicks’ new owners could deliver some stability to the football club following a period in which it may be fair to say that they struggled to achieve that.

TIF Thoughts…

The lack of investment, in addition to all of the drama that had been surrounding the club since ESI’s takeover back in January, may have been concerning for some Addicks fans and with that in mind, this news regarding the sale of the club to Farnell’s consortium will surely be met with positivity by many of the club’s supporters, who may have been growing tired of Nimer and ESI.
