Charlton Athletic director Marian Mihail recently spoke with the Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Trust (CAST) to answer some questions that had been sent to CAST by Addicks supporters – with the Q&A session subsequently published by Charlton’s official website.

Mihail received multiple questions concerning the payment of wages, and the Addicks director revealed that staff wages for the month of May were paid “without third-party support or a cash injection”, before going on to claim that “short-term funds can be covered via other sources”.

To kick off this quiz on 2019/20 Championship goalkeepers, can you name which goalkeeper has kept the highest number of clean sheets in the Championship this season?

In a previous Q&A session that was conducted with CAST at the beginning of May, Mihail confirmed that staff wages for April were also paid without a cash injection from owner Tahnoon Nimer, however, he also claimed that the club’s majority shareholder was “committed to injecting funds when the football club needs it”, however, Mihail has made no mention of a potential future cash injection from Nimer this time around.

TIF Thoughts…

This news regarding the payment of the club’s staff for the month of May might not come as a big surprise for Addicks fans, given that it was reported last month that Nimer has failed to provide source and sufficiency of funding since he and his ‘East Street Investments’ (ESI) group completed a takeover of the club back in January, as per the Evening Standard.

This takeover has since been placed under investigation by the EFL, and Charlton Athletic recently released a statement to share that the club’s board had “received notice of a change in ownership” at ESI, whilst the club have also been the subject of numerous reported takeover bids of late.

With all of that in mind, not many Addicks supporters are likely to have been expecting there to have been investment made in the club over the past month.
